Stratesave supports backup of running SharePoint Portal Server 2001 databases, workspaces, document store and configuration. This is always a full backup. The backups are performed through the SharePoint Portal Server backup programming interface (API), to assure accuracy of backed up data.and are compatible with MSDMBACK utility that comes with SharePoint portal server. Backing up SharePoint Portal Server can be done locally or remotely, and requires Agent for SharePoint Portal Server.
Please note that SharePoint Portal Server should not be selected under the ESE98 tree, only directly. If you are backing up Exchange Server 2000 and SharePoint Portal Server, SharePoint Portal Server must be deselected under ESE98 tree.
You can restore the SharePoint Portal Server back to a running SharePoint Portal Server. Alternatively, you can restore the backed up data to a file, for manual processing if desired (with MSDMBACK utility).
For Share Point Portal Server 2003, there is no single selection for backup. SharePoint Portal Server 2003 uses SQL Server 2000 to store its databases, these can be backed up with SQL Server (or VSS\MSDEWriter).
