Stratesave supports databases backed up remotely. This works even if the server Software is not installed. For example a Windows XP Professional can fully backup a Windows 2003 or 2000 Server or Advanced server with SQL and Exchange Server databases.
·SQL Server: Stratesave uses ODBC32 driver, which comes with Windows 2003/XP/2000. It is not always possible to provide remote access username/password, so username/password on Stratesave backup computer should match with Exchange server.
·Certificate Services: Stratesave uses CERTADM.DLL driver, which comes with Windows 2000 Advanced Server. For remote backups from a Windows 2000/XP professional, copy certadm.dll from the Certificate server to the backup server (\WINNT\system32 or Stratesave program directory). It is not possible to provide remote access username/password, so username/password on Stratesave backup computer should match with Certificate server.
·Exchange Server: Stratesave uses EDBBCLI.DLL for Exchange Server 5.5, ESEBCLI2.DLL for Exchange Server 2000/2003 (ESE98). These dlls don't come with Windows 2000/XP, but they can be copied from Exchange server to backup server (\WINNT\system32 or Stratesave program directory). It is not possible to provide remote access username/password, so username/password on Stratesave backup computer should match with Exchange server. For remote backup of Exchange Server 2003/2000 selecting server with IP-address currently does not work, so servername must be specified instead of server's IP-address.
If problems occur during remote database backup or restore, please check first that logged in username/password has remote Administrator access on the remote computer to be backed up or restored.
Also Stratesave uses Named Pipes for communication. This can cause problems with Virus-Shield Software that interferes with named pipes, which it probably shouldn't do. If you are getting network errors or pipe timeout error, try turning off Anti-virus Software.
