In this dialog, backup file on server can be selected by its file name and eventually tape- or removable disk name.
For restoration from tape, tape name does not have to be specified. When restoration is made from removable disk, disk name can also be left out. If the tape- or diskname is not specified, option Mount by operator or media changer in device dialog must not be set. The reason is, that operator or robot must know, which tape is to be entered.
Push button Browse... for restoration from fixed disk allows to select .STF file (=filelist file, containing backup information). .STS file containing pure backup data can also be selected, but selecting .STF is the prefered way. For restoration from tape, push button Dir loads directory list of backup files (*.STF,*.STS-files) into edit field File name. Simply select the .STF-file to restore from and press OK, to load the corresponding Log and filelist data.
If the .STF file (filelist file) is not available, push button Corrupted backup.. allows to scan the entire backup (.STS-file) to still find backed up files. This feature should only be used as a last resort, because it does not allow to restore special information like security, very long filenames, extended attributes etc. Preferably, select the .STF file for restore instead of scanning the backup with corrupted-backup option.
OK or Cancel quit dialog, Cancel ignoring changements. After OK, file list will be loaded from selected backup. If option corrupted backup has been set, entire backup will be scanned in the search of backed up files. In display window Parameters the name of backupfile on server is shown under Restore from:. All restores and all printed file lists are from selected backup.
