Image Backup

Stratesave supports backing up disk images in VHD and VHDX format. This is always a full backup. Only the used disk blocks are backed up. The disk image can be restored to the same or a different disk, which must be as least as big as backed up disk. Disk partitions can also be restored to the same or to a different partition of same or bigger size. Alternatively, images can be restored as disk files in VHD/VHDX-format to be mounted with DISKPART command.

Stratesave creates most precise image backups: VSS is used to create partition snapshot. VSS Writer Applications with files in the backed up disk partitions are automatically selected to participate in image creation. For System disk image, VSS System State backup image will be created.

For Restore, select the disk (for example disk1.vhdx), to restore the entire disk. To restore a partition only, select the partition without selecting the disk.

After starting the restore, for every disk or partition to be restored a dialog will be shown, where the target disk and partition numbers can be selected. There is also a final confirmation dialog before restore.
